Kristal ~ Pregnancy Portraits

Yesterday I spent a glorious winters afternoon photographing Kristal. Kristal is due to have her second baby in about 6 weeks. There’s a few locations that I’ve be keen to shoot at so we travelled around a bit and we were lucky enough to find some glorious light.

It’s always fun for me when you a have someone in front of your camera who is funny, confident and beautiful inside and out, plus they are willing to let you take them anywhere for photos!! Thank you Kristal.

Debbie May Flowers

Once a year in the lead up to the Yamba Bridal Expo, Debbie May Flowers starts pulling together photos of the bouquets she’s created over the past year for the pages of her portfolio. Family Time | Lismore Lantern Parade

Yesterday Anthony, I, my girls and my niece made the trek to Lismore to see the annual Lismore Lantern Parade. During the quiet part of the year (in terms of weddings) I really try to spend some quality time with my girls to hopefully make up for the many weekends I am working the rest of the year.

I also really wanted to spend some time practicing some of my night photography skills and what better way than at a Lantern Parade. In order to challenge myself further (and also for the mere fact I didn’t want to carry my entire photography kit) . I picked my camera body (Canon 5D for those who are interested), my flash (my flash Canon 580ex-really should learn how to use that thing better) and then I did something really wild. I shut my eyes, put my hand in my bag a pulled out a random lens. Seriously. I am that wild! I ended up taking the 50mm 1.2. Yay! I love that lens!

To start with, we have the Cast of Characters….and I mean characters!

The dinosaurs from Erth made an appearance. I’ve seen these guys a few times and that are so talented!

Nardeen and Pete | wedding

During Nardeen and Pete’s vows, Nardeen said one line. That one line, for the rest of my life, I know I will never forget…..”You fixed my broken mower and you fixed my broken heart”. I cried….again!

Nardeen and Pete met when Nardeen called on him to fix her mower. Little did she know that this wonderful man would change her life forever. It was a privilege photograph Nardeen and Pete’s wedding and witness two lovely families becoming one. And the blessings don’t end there! Nardeen discovered she was 6 months pregnant not long before the wedding, so now we are all eagerly awaiting the gorgeous baby who will bring the family members up to 7!

Nardeen and Pee decided to have ‘First Look’ for their photos. It meant that we took most of their wedding photos before their actual ceremony. It was lovely and intimate and we were able to grab some lovely family photos at the same time:

We took about 30 minutes after the ceremony to grab a few photos of just Nardeen and Pete without the children. We were also lucky to score some yummy light as the sun was setting”

Looking for Autumn leaves….

Reading my friend Karissa from Image Photography’s blog lately and I’ve been just a little envious of all the beautiful Autumn leaves she’s been photographing in and around Tamworth and Armidale. Since we don’t have many of those lovely trees in Yamba I used the opportunity of being in Graftons See Park today to grab some quick photos of my girls.

Most of the leaves had lost their gorgeous colour, but we managed to find a few nice golden ones. It was an impromptu shoot so the girls are styled in whatever they found clean this morning!

Kim and Daniel | My first wedding on a boat!

I can remember vividly Kim telling me that her and Daniels wedding was going to be on a boat. Daniel’s a fisherman, he is one with boats, he has sea legs. I have land legs and not real steady ones at that! I thought it best to tell Kim that I don’t have sea legs and the last time I went out on a boat I counted the looong seconds until we were back on land. Needless to say, I won’t share any more of that story! I felt much better though when Kim informed me, that she to only has land legs. I though to myself, I’ll be ok and I happily accepted the privilege of photographing Kim and Daniels wedding day.

The next question I asked was, are you really getting married on Daniels trawler? It turns out that the ‘boat’ was actually a 75ft luxury cruiser that shares a jetty with Daniels trawler. Such is my life, cruising around the Clarence River on luxury boats doing what I love *sigh* .

Brooke and Steve | a sea side wedding

When Brooke married Steve you could see it was one of the happiest days of her life. Her beautiful smile never left her face. Their ceremony was held on a rock platform with beautiful Turners Beach, Yamba in the background. The sun shone brightly, seagulls flew past and surfers stopped and watched as Brooke and Steve exchanged their vows. Following is a selection of photos from their day.

The Bebb Family | A fun portrait session

Photographing this lovely family was so much fun! With four children under 5, two being twins, I knew I was in for an adventure. As the family was holidaying in Iluka we decided that the best spot to go to was the local park which is close by the Clarence River. We swung on swings, climbed in trees, paddled our feet, had running races…all good fun!

When I saw this, I just knew there was going to be trouble!

After all the action, I got a chance to grab a quick shot of mum and dad!
