Rebecca and Leon {Angourie Rainforest Resort, Yamba Wedding}

The day threatened rain and hourly I checked the Bureau of Meteorology website to see what was in store for Rebecca and Leon’s wedding day. When I met them a year ago we had talked of soft winter sun, beautiful sunsets and mild days. Today looked nothing like our dreams. I just hoped that the rain would hold of so that Rebecca and Leon could have the beach side ceremony that they spent months planning.

Someone was watching over them that day and although we had periods of rain, we also had dry periods and all at the right time Then, amazingly, we were blessed with a spectacular sunset.

My day started with the girls at the Angourie Rainforest Resort. You just can’t go wrong there, beautiful locations for photos, lovely rooms and Danielle really looks after you. The ceremony was held on the grass above Main Beach Pool, Yamba with the backdrop being a vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean. We were dodging showers during our location photos but found some protection from the rain at the Angourie Blue Pools. The raindrops sat like pearls on the spindly Casuarina leaves and glistened in the dappled light. After the Blue Pools we headed to Pilot Hill, Yamba to catch the last of the sun rays as they bounced off the clouds in vivid oranges and purples.

Rebecca and Leon were my last wedding couple for 2010-2011 wedding year and what a way to finish! My weddings start again on 27th August 2011 and I can’t wait see what this year brings me!

Katrina and Shaun {Sannas Gardens and Yamba Shores Tavern Wedding}

Katrina and Shaun have been living in Western Australia so all of our chatting has been over the Internet. I finally met them a couple of days before their wedding and it felt like I already knew them. Katrina was just buzzing and so excited to be marrying Shaun and that sort of excitement is contagious. While we chatted about her photos, Katrina mentioned that all of her chosen locations had a lot of significance to her. Katrina grew up surrounded by sugar cane and farms, the sugar cane she chose as her backdrop belongs to her grandfather and will probably be the last crop he farms. The river and jetty are areas Katrina used to hang out at as a child and the veranda belonged to her Auntie Joanie. I hope I did her locations justice.

Whilst out on location a fairly severe storm was brewing in the background. Fancying myself as a bit of a storm chaser as well as a wedding photographer, I was in heaven with amazing clouds and storm front coming in. What better to do than place Katrina and Shaun right in front of it!

Whilst Katrina and Shaun held their ceremony at the stunning Sannas Garden, continuing on to the reception which was held at the Yamba Shores Tavern.

Katrina and Kristofter {Angourie Rainforest Resort Wedding}

Down came the rain and out came the umbrellas last Saturday for Katrina and Kristofters wedding. We were however in one of the best locations in Yamba for a rainy day wedding, the Angourie Rainforest Resort. The ceremony was held in the Poolside Pergola and as Katrina and Kristofter exchanged vows, the rain provided a beautiful ambiance as the drops splashed in the nearby pool.

Lindsay and Greyce {Back Beach, Angourie Wedding}

Back Beach Angourie provided a perfect backdrop for Lindsay and Greyce as they exchanged their wedding vows. The ceremony was held on the whale watching platform above Back Beach and it was the perfect size for an intimate wedding. Yamba Wedding Celebrant Christine Preston did a wonderful job of officiating the ceremony.

The first time I met Lindsay was at the very first wedding I photographed. He was the groomsman for his Dads’ wedding. To say I was nervous was an understatement. I couldn’t agree more when Lindsay’ Dad said to me, “I think you were more nervous than us!”

Lindsay is the Chef at the Frangipan Restaurant in Angourie. I have photographed a few weddings at the Frangipan and I know my brides and grooms have always been happy with it as a venue. If you ever up this way, it is well worth a visit. Mmmmm, now I’m thinking of their warm soft centred molten truffle cake with vanilla ice cream and hazelnut praline. I’m easily distracted!

Rene and Adam {Maclean Wedding}

From the minute Rene saw Adam as she walked down the church aisle, a smile did not leave her face. All day. All the months, weeks and hours of preparation came to fruition at the the alter of St Marys Catholic Church in front of their warm and supportive family and friends. Little flower girls sprinkled rose petals and skipped around the church in pink pettiskirts and leotards whilst Adam and Rene exchanged vows and rings. The moment they had been counting down to had arrived. They are husband and wife. Forever together.

Amy and Ben {Yamba Wedding }

Amy and I are similar, we both like lists, spreadsheets and systems. We like to know what is going on and where. For me it makes me feel neat, tidy and organised. For Amy, it helped her to plan the most fabulous wedding to her Ben. Not a detail was missed, nothing went astray and her wedding day went perfectly.

Surrounded by a fabulous bridal party, family and friends, they wed in the gorgeous gardens belonging to Mrs Sanna. The sun was out, not a cloud in the sky and butterflies fluttered around the many Spring flowers that blossomed in time for Ben and Amy’s day. Amy radiated happiness and warmth and she walked down the aisle accompanied by her dad and Ben only had eyes for her.

The ceremony was officiated by the lovely celebrant Dawn Shepherd. I do’s were exchanged and together forever was sealed with a kiss. We celebrated Ben and Amy’s first hour as husband and wife with photos around Chatsworth Island and their property at Mororo. As much as I love the beach and the ocean back drop that Yamba provides, it was a lovely change to shoot amongst textured sheds, macadamia rows and burnt out logs.

The celebrations had begun in the Bangalow Room of the Angourie Rainforest Resort when Amy and Ben made their grand entrance. The room was a picture of style and class and guests we relaxed and enjoying the company of friends. I’m sure a wonderful night was had.

Sheree and Daniels wedding day was not going to be dampened by the rain and howling winds that whipped around. It didn’t matter what the weather bought, they were getting married! On top of Pilot hill, in front of friends and family, they exchanged rings and vows. The magic that a wedding brings was evident as as the sun broke through at just the right moment, illuminating them as they walked down the aisle as husband and wife. Congratulations!

Katie and Jonathon {Yamba Engagement Session}

I started talking with Katie in April this year. We didn’t meet face to face before they decided to book me, but I knew that I would just love them as her smile came through in everyone of her emails. Katie and Jonathon are getting married in November in Ballina and I am so looking forward to it. They have one of my favourite celebrants Dawn Shepherd officiating and my friend and up and coming wedding photographer Lee Pinwill will also be coming along to join me in capturing their day. I’m sure it’s going to be a great day all round.

Katie and Jonathon traveled down to Yamba for their engagement session and we decided to just ‘wing it’. I love ‘winging it’! It allows me to drive around with my clients and we just choose locations as we feel fit. I tried out some new locations and returned to some old favourites. Sophie and Blake {Green Point, Yamba Wedding}

Green Point was cool and blustery the day Sophie and Blake married, but it didn’t stop most of the village showing up to witness their vows. The prayer flags fluttered above as Blake and Sophie held each other tight and exchanged their vows.
