Beautiful shells, natural colours, candles in rattan vases and Sirromet Perfect Day wine graced the tables of the Angourie Rainforest Resort. Matt and Dee had been planning their beach wedding from September last year and not one detail had been forgotten. They had Green Point picked as their ceremony location and we planned to take their photos on the beach.

Matt and Dee’s wedding they woke to find dark clouds and rain on their wedding day. They were ready to take it on and were extremely positive despite the incessant torrential rain.

Plan B for the ceremony was the Poolside Pergola at the resort. With Christine Preston as the celebrant, sincere and heartfelt vows were exchanged and I doubt there was a dry eye amongst their guests.

Matt and Dee were really keen to live out their dream and have their beach photos taken. The pouring rain on their wedding day is their story and we wanted to tell it like it was. We made mad dashes across rain soaked paths as they sheltered under umbrellas. You can see the rain in the shots!

The reception had been decorated by Fabulous Functions and Dee and her bridesmaids had provided some of the finishing touches. It was warm and inviting with a celebratory ambience,  you couldn’t ask for more to top off Matt and Dee’s perfect day.

Someone was watching over them that day and although we had periods of rain, we also had dry periods and all at the right time Then, amazingly, we were blessed with a spectacular sunset.

My day started with the girls at the Angourie Rainforest Resort. You just can’t go wrong there, beautiful locations for photos, lovely rooms and Danielle really looks after you. The ceremony was held on the grass above Main Beach Pool, Yamba with the backdrop being a vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean. We were dodging showers during our location photos but found some protection from the rain at the Angourie Blue Pools. The raindrops sat like pearls on the spindly Casuarina leaves and glistened in the dappled light. After the Blue Pools we headed to Pilot Hill, Yamba to catch the last of the sun rays as they bounced off the clouds in vivid oranges and purples.

Rebecca and Leon were my last wedding couple for 2010-2011 wedding year and what a way to finish! My weddings start again on 27th August 2011 and I can’t wait see what this year brings me!

The Poolside Pergola allowed for a lovely outdoor ceremony even though the weather was not in our favour. Sharron Todd officiated the ceremony.

Daniel and Kaori  had a very intimate wedding on the deck of the poolside pergola at the Angourie Rainforest Resort in Yamba. There wasn’t a bridal party in attendance, but Kaori was accompanied down the aisle by 5 flower girls and 4 little boys blowing bubbles. Guests had travelled from Japan and Western Australia. Most of the Japanese guests were dressed in traditional Kimono.

Chris Preston was the celebrant for Kaori and Daniel and again she did a marvelous job. This wedding was a bit different for Chris also as she had to accommodate an interpreter for Kaori and Daniels Japanese guests.

The wedding was on a Tuesday afternoon which was a first for me, as was the Sake Ceremony Kaori and Daniel included in their ceremony. In this ceremony the bride and groom share 3 cups of rice wine sake.
It is a gesture that is called san san kudo or the way of three, three, nine. Since odd numbers cannot be divided in two they are considered very lucky so three sips from 3 s hared cups of sake, make an exceptionally lucky number.
The sharing of sake cups not only symbolises the union of two people but it is also the uniting of the families.
The graduated size of the cups from small to large shows how love and respect and happiness in marriage grow and deepen over time.

Dark skies and intermittent rain forced us to abandon Green Point for their photos and we made the most of the beautiful grounds of the resort. We managed to get some lovely shots before heading into the reception where their guests were waiting for them.

Sake Ceremony

I love this idea, Daniel and Kaori had a polaroid camera on a table and guests were able to take photos and write messages on them before pinning them to a cork board:

Katie and Jonathon traveled down to Yamba for their engagement session and we decided to just ‘wing it’. I love ‘winging it’! It allows me to drive around with my clients and we just choose locations as we feel fit.
