“Really?” I questioned, already knowing that they had been friends since they were 11 and 12 years old and dating since their teens, “you’re pulling my leg”.

“We’ve had thousands” he laughed and then looked at Molly adoringly.

This year Molly and Kelven are celebrating the Diamond Wedding anniversary. What a journey they have had and an amazing life experienced together. Kelven shared some of their stories with me and it is so lovely to hear of lives well lived and loved, of children, grand children and great grandchildren, of trials and of jubilation’s.

I photograph so many weddings, then my brides pregnancies and little newborns, their growing families and sometimes their children’s graduations from school. It’s special to be a part of recording a life journey. The thing that draws me to photography most of of all is the people I meet and get to know and to be able to tell their story through photos.. Molly and Kelven had a lot to share and I thoroughly enjoyed out morning together. Congratulations to you both, you’ve definitely earned your stripes!

Zave visited my studio at the end of December and he was only 8 days old! I love photographing newborns, they are so tiny and precious. I love hearing the story of their arrival. I love being able to give the mummy and daddy a little break from their workload. Make sure you scroll to the bottom of this post to see what my clients get up to during their bubs newborn shoot!

To say the end of 2011 was busy is an understatment. I photographed many gorgeous weddings, happy families, blooming bellies and precious newborns. I am so lucky to go to work and do what I love. Everyday.

I love to recieve phone call and emails, I love talking to clients, current, new and prospective. I love the relationships that blossom from sharing in a small part of people lives.

One thing that is not on my love list though is working 24/7. I have been taking phone calls from people at all hours of the day and night. Every week. Something had to give and I ended up sick and run down at the end of the year. Not a good thing when you are a person who really values their health.

I made a promise to myself in February 2011 that I would have a better life/work balance and this year is the year to implement it!

For 2012, my business hours are:

On Saturdays I shoot weddings and Sunday is my day off. Monday is also planned as a day off, depending on how I feel.

If you email, call or message me out of office hours I may not respond until the next working day.

It doesn’t mean that I don’t think that you are important, it’s quite the opposite! I am a better photographer when I have time off and will therefore be a better photographer for YOU!
