Zave visited my studio at the end of December and he was only 8 days old! I love photographing newborns, they are so tiny and precious. I love hearing the story of their arrival. I love being able to give the mummy and daddy a little break from their workload. Make sure you scroll to the bottom of this post to see what my clients get up to during their bubs newborn shoot!

Welcome Hudson {Yamba Newborn Photography}

Little Hudson came to my Yamba studio when he was six weeks old and what a little cutie he is. He smiled, coo-ed and pulled all the cheeky expressions a little one can to make you fall in love in love with him. Over and over again. You’ll be seeing more of Hudson in a few months time as he joins his mum and dad on one of the the most important days of their life, their wedding. I’m really looking forward to sharing in this little families day.

Fun Photo Tip and a Mamarazzi Workshop {How to take better photos of your children}

Raise your hand if :

•you have a that child hates it when you point the camera at them

•you would love to take better photos of your children

I am holding a photography workshop at Bels Brass Razoo in Maclean on 18 August 2011 from 12pm to 2pm. We’ll be covering topics that I am asked most about when taking photos of children. I have also allowed 30 minutes for one on one questions. If there’s something you particularly like covered I have set up a discussion tab on my Facebook page for you to post your questions (you will need to ‘like’ the page before your can post). This is going to be a fun and relaxed workshop. I want you to walk away from this workshop with ideas on how to refine your technique as a mum or dad photographer and capture winning photos of your kids. I also want to enjoy getting to know each of you and hear your stories about the photos you have captured that you love. After all, photography is all about the love of images. I really hope to meet you there!

Fun Photo Tip!

Windows are your friends! Even if you don’t have huge windows in your house, the light coming in from outside is almost always better than your on camera flash. Window light works perfectly for sweet baby portraits like this one. Just watch your exposure though, you don’t want to “blow out” the whites and loose all your detail.

Olivia {Maclean Newborn Portraits}

I think that I have said this before, but one of the most rewarding aspects of being a wedding and portrait photographer is following the life journey of my clients turned friends. Ben and Amy were married last September (you can view their photos here) and have just welcomed little Olivia into the world. Olivia was 8 days old when I called into their home for some family photos. She is so tiny (only 5 pound 8 ) and so so sweet.

Sam is just way too cute! He was six weeks old when he and his family were in my studio. To say he is adored is an understatement!

Analah {Yamba Newborn Portraits}

Analah was a whole 12 days old when her Mummy and her came for her photos. She was the perfect age for newborn portraits as she was still sleepy and happy to let us pose her in in pretty much any position. She was an absolute little angel while she was here and I just love the photos we captured of her.

Finn {Newborn Portraits}

Finn is the gorgeous newborn son of Nardeen and Peter. Nardeen and Peter were married in May this year in Yamba and it is lovely to see (and photograph) their growing family. Finn was 10 days old when he had his portraits taken and was already growing quickly. I guess he had a bit of a head start considering he weighted in at 9lb 9ozs when he was born! His big brother Kai came along so I could take some photos of the two boys together, which turned out to be rather tricky as Kai is so active! Kai stole the show for a while with his cheeky grin and funny antics, then Pop stopped by to pick him up for a play and I was able to take my time photographing sweet little Finn.

Hanging out with baby Alex | newborn portraits

Oliver | Newborn Portraits

Before I get to showing you the photos of adorable little Oliver, I just want to apologise for absolutely no blog post last week. I am so sorry that I did not blog. Being a blog stalker myself, I know how it feels when I like to read someones blog and then they disappear without any notice or whatever. I really appreciate everyone who stops by for a look.

Please, don’t worry. I will be back on track very soon. It’s just that i have been super busy lately and well, life has gotten in the way of my blog. I’m also very sorry for my slow reply to emails this week.

I am always excited to photograph a baby! This little bub is part of a beautiful family I photographed late last year. You can see his adorable sisters here. Oliver is going to grow up in a loving and vibrant home. Lucky, lucky boy!

charlotte | newborn

This sweet little girl is Charlotte, the daughter of adoring parents, Mel and Adam.

I don’t know how they possibly get anything done around the house, you could spend a whole day watching her sleep.

She is just adorable. I think I will pop her in my camera bag and take her home with me. I think she would fit, though her mummy would probably notice she was missing.

She has the most kissable lips!

I bought this upsy daisy flower hat especially for Charlotte, however it arrived after we had our photo session. Mel, being the lovely friend she is, bought Charlotte back a week later so I could take a few photos of her with her flower hat on. So cute!
