Yesterday Anthony, I, my girls and my niece made the trek to Lismore to see the annual Lismore Lantern Parade. During the quiet part of the year (in terms of weddings) I really try to spend some quality time with my girls to hopefully make up for the many weekends I am working the rest of the year.
I also really wanted to spend some time practicing some of my night photography skills and what better way than at a Lantern Parade. In order to challenge myself further (and also for the mere fact I didn’t want to carry my entire photography kit) . I picked my camera body (Canon 5D for those who are interested), my flash (my flash Canon 580ex-really should learn how to use that thing better) and then I did something really wild. I shut my eyes, put my hand in my bag a pulled out a random lens. Seriously. I am that wild! I ended up taking the 50mm 1.2. Yay! I love that lens!
To start with, we have the Cast of Characters….and I mean characters!
My little girl, pose much?

My big girl, she’s growing up so fast and she is just such so lovely (I can say that, I’m her mum):

My niece, Mik, she loves hanging out with my girls:

It is impossible to get a ‘normal’ photo of them at this stage in their life, I thought I would try again later:

It didn’t get any better..what’s with the beanie OVER the hood Mik?

The parade:

The dinosaurs from Erth made an appearance. I’ve seen these guys a few times and that are so talented!

They are great photos Vicki, and it was good to watch the lights and the sights in Lismore. xxx
Great pictures, the lanterns are so beautiful, and you have shot them so well, great colour and sharpness with the blurred lights behind.Really pretty. But of course I just adore the girls pic. That one of Mik and the cap over the hoodie just cracks me up!! Mad and Chels love the camera don’t they? Great shots for a great day.
That last shot is a corker!!
Looks like a fun event.
I have always wondered what the laterns looked liked…they are beautiful. Good to see you getting out and about and enjoy your special little girls x
